We are proud to serve more than 1,800 youth who participate in Scouting in Bureau, Henry, Knox, McDonough, Mercer, Rock Island, Stark, and Warren counties in Illinois and Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott counties in Iowa. These 13 counties make up the Illowa Council!
Scouting has been shaping the youth of America for more than 100 years. Scouting does AMAZING things for youth. Scouts try new things, serve others, boost self-confidence, make ethical choices, and explore the outdoors. Besides being super-fun, Scouts say it helps them be more honest, teaches them to better work with others, guides them into becoming better team players and leaders, and provides life-long skills. Prepared. For Life.

Dinner Recap! This past weekend we were able to recognize many individuals for their financial contributions to the Illowa Council.
The Scouting Good Turn Society honors those who understand Scouting is more than a program; it is a promise. A promise to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes, guided by the values expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. Thank you Will Moon III and Sam Norwood & Elisabeth Palmer-Norwood for your significant financial commitment in support of Scouting's mission!
We were also fortunate to recognize 10 individuals as James E West Donors. The James E West Fellowship Award is presented to those who make a gift of $1,000 or more to the local council endowment. The gifts are not spent immediately, they are invested and only the earnings from the investment are used. This provides a permanent source of funding that supports Scouting year after year. Congratulations to our James E West donors!
We were able to present the North Star Award to the Roy J Carver Charitable Trust for their financial support of our recent Shower House and Safe Place Shelter Capital project at Camp Loud Thunder. The North Star Award is presented by local councils for non-registered volunteers or organizations who have made a significant contribution to Scouting; this award is on the same level as the Silver Beaver. Thanks to the Roy J Carver Charitable Trust every dollar given towards our campaign through October 17, 2026 will be matched up to $150,000!
