Course Information
Range and Target Activities are a major highlight in a Cub Scout’s journey; helping them learn a new skill is gratifying!
This training will educate adults on Scouting America’s policies regarding the operation of Cub Scout Archery and BB Gun Ranges.
This is a required course for anyone volunteering as a Rangemaster.
- Certification is valid for 2 years
- Participants will be asked to assist at 3 District/Council level events (e.g., Day Camps, STEALTH, HALT) while their certification is valid.
Archery and BB Gun Shooting are restricted to Day Camps, Cub Scout/Webelos Resident Camps, Council-managed Family Camping Programs, or to Council activities where there are properly trained supervisors and all standards for Scouting America’s Range and Target Activities programs are enforced.
- Archery and BB Gun shooting can not take place at the Pack/Den level.
- Range and Target Activities patches and pins may only be earned at the camps/activities listed above.
These programs are designed to emphasize safety and marksmanship development under the direction of trained range personnel using nationally approved instruction methods.
