Fall Fishing Derby – 9/12
Spend a fun-filled day on the water with family and friends at the Kittan District Fall Fishing Derby! This free event is designed for Cub Scouts and their families to enjoy the outdoors while learning, fishing, and making lasting memories together.
Thanks to the generous support of Kittan District Troop 24, every participant will receive:

Participants are welcome to bring their own fishing rod and tackle if they prefer. Parents or guardians must remain with their Cub Scout throughout the event.
NRA Co-Op Muzzleloading Rifle Instructor Course – 9/18-20
Share your knowledge with others by becoming a Muzzleloading Rifle Instructor! This course will give you the skills needed to instruct others on the safe handling and usage of muzzleloading rifles. TCandidates for this course must complete and pass the Basic course prior to attending.
Complete your Range & Target Merit Badges – 9/26
If you’re a Scouts BSA Youth and you have a partial blue card for a Range & Target Activities merit badge, this clinic at Camp Loud Thunder for you! Not many opportunities like this come up, so register today!

Scouts can work toward their Golf Merit Badge at this hands-on clinic hosted by First Tee Quad Cities at Red Hawk Golf & Learning Center in Davenport, Iowa. Learn golf skills, complete merit badge requirements, and enjoy time on the course!
Chainsaw Basic Training – 10/2-4
Help us clear trails, remove deadfalls, clear timber, and stockpile wood for campfires and heating buildings! Operating a chainsaw is inherently hazardous. Proper maintenance, personal protective equipment, and correct technique are critical components of safe chainsaw operation. Potential injuries can be minimized by using proper personal protective equipment and safe operating procedures.
Cub Scout Rangemaster Training – 10/3
Time to get in on the action! Cub Scout Range & Target Activities are always popular at District and Council events, and now you can get trained on how we emphasize safety and marksmanship development for youth under the direction of trained range personnel. Range & Target Activities are a major highlight of a Cub Scout’s journey – helping them to learn these skills is highly gratifying!

HALT – Halloween at Loud Thunder – 10/16-18
HALT is Illowa Council’s Fall Cub Scout event at Camp Loud Thunder. Join us for games, activities, BB-Guns, slingshots, hayrack rides, camping, campsite decorating, campfire program, AND LOTS MORE FUN!
NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course – 10/24
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude that is necessary for the safe use of rifles in target shooting. You’ll learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, rifle parts/operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, shooting from multiple positions, and gun cleaning.

If you’ve successfully taken the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course and want to dive deeper into your ability to teach others how to properly and safely use rifles, this course is for you!

NRA Range Safety Officer Training – 1/31
The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are the people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification, Practical Course – 2/28
The USA Archery Level 1 Instructor will learn about range safety and setup, the steps of shooting, equipment and repair, programs and lesson plans, and is well prepared to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of disciplines.
