About this Event
Show off your Scout skills at this year’s Klondike! Scouts will brave the elements to develop patrol spirit and teamwork! Remember that this event will be cold and probably snowy… dress for the conditions and BE PREPARED. THIS EVENT WILL NOT BE CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER.
SLED RULES:
- No Wheels
- No Plastic Sleds
- No Deer Sleds
- It is the SPL’s responsibility to make sure that all required items are on the sled. Patrols will need some of them for the events.
REQUIRED ITEMS:
- Scout Handbook
- Pen/Pencil and paper
- 10 Essentials
- 2 Gallons of water
- 3 poles for lashing
- 2 Tarps
- Neckerchief (1 per Patrol)
- Member 12′ ropes, x 6
- Fire starting equipment (NO matches, lighters, or accelerants. Tinder is OK.)
- Natural wood for fires (NO pallet wood or building wood)
- Bag to carry gold
- Sled to carry supplies
- First Aid Kit
- Any other itmes that might be needed during the day that are not listed
SUGGESTED ITEMS:
- Each Scout should bring an extra set of dry clothes and socks.
EVENT SCHEDULE:
- 8:30am: Check-in/Registration
- 8:30-9:00am: Opening; Sled Inspection
- 9:15am: Stations open
- 12:00-1:00pm: Lunch & Awards
- Lunch: We will have chili, chicken soup, hot chocolate, and coffee available.
- 1:00pm: Depart for the day
