DATE: November 13-15, 2026
START TIME: Check in at 6:30pm on Friday; Course begins at 7:00pm.
END TIME: Sunday at 4:00pm
LOCATION: Camp Loud Thunder, 9906 175th St W, Illinois City, IL
WHO: Scouters & Non-Scouters, 15 years and older
COST: Course fees include NRA Materials, lodging, and food. Registrants who pass the course will incur an additional fee for NRA Certification.
- Scouters: $95 (must provide your Scouting America Member ID that corresponds with your current membership; this will be verified)
- Non-Scouters: $250
- All Participants: Bring 200 rounds of 22 Long Rifle ammunition.

About this Course
The NRA REQUIRES that all NRA Rifle Instructor candidates first successfully complete the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course, regardless of shooting experience.

Scouting Members are asked to volunteer at 3 – 4 Council shooting sports events in their respective council over the next 2 program years.
If this course is successfully completed, certification ratings would be as follows:
- 15 – 17 Years Old: Apprentice Instructor
- 18 – 20 Years Old: Assistant Instructor
- 21 & Older: Certified Instructor
